Changes Announced for 2023-24 Skilled Work Regional Visa Program

In a significant development for immigration to Australia, the Department of Home Affairs has unveiled key changes to the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) and the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) for the 2023-24 program. Here's what you need to know:


Transitional Arrangements - Two year SC 408 visas

Temporary Graduate Visa (TGV) holders whose visas expire/d between 1 September 2022 and 1 July 2023 may apply for an extension of their work rights using a Temporary Activity SC 408 COVID-19 Pandemic event visa with two years validity.

Subclass 485 Extended Post Study Rights

Ministers Clare O'Neil and Jason Clare have announced that the post-study work rights for international students who have graduated from an Australian higher education institution will be extended in an effort to resolve skills shortages.

Western Australia

WA has announced 2022-23 program changes - new applications will be accepted from people residing overseas and there has been an expansion of occupations available under the Graduate stream.

The 2022-23 updated Western Australian State nomination criteria are now available.
