Subclass 485 Extended Post Study Rights

Ministers Clare O'Neil and Jason Clare have announced that the post-study work rights for international students who have graduated from an Australian higher education institution will be extended in an effort to resolve skills shortages.

A list of eligible occupations and qualifications has been released, focusing on the disciplines of health, education, engineering, and agriculture.
The expanded work privileges become effective on July 1, 2023. Current settings for each graduate level will be increased by two years, beginning with:
two to four years for certain Bachelor's degrees
three to five years for particular Master's degrees
four to six years are required for all Doctoral degrees.
Existing regional and remote locations in Australia will be maintained and, where applicable, will be eligible for the additional two years.
These targeted competencies will be evaluated annually and revised as required in response to the labor market.
Graduates with a valid Temporary Graduate Visa on July 1, 2023, or who will apply for a Temporary Graduate Visa after July 1, 2023, will be eligible for the two-year extension.
