Transfer of Temporary Visa Applications in New Zealand

Currently Immigration New Zealand (INZ) is experiencing a high demand for temporary visa applications received in New Zealand and has made an operational decision to distribute a number of applications across global footprint to ensure applications can be allocated and processed as quickly as possible by utilizing global processing capacity.


Reminder to all Employer Nominated - Permanent Residency Applicants

Changes will take effect from all applications lodged on and after July 1 2017

  1. English language requirement for all applicants will be raised to competent English (IELTS 6 each band) - with TRT and Direct Entry requirements to be consistent.
  2. the upper age limit for Direct Entry ENS and RSMS will be lowered to 45 years of age (previously 50)

Northern Territory closes GSM nominations until 1 July 2017

The Northern Territory has temporarily suspended nomination applications for Subclass 489 and Subclass 190 visas where the applicants are not in the Northern Territory(offshore) until July 1, 2017.


Partner Visa (DIBP Workload Overload)

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection has recently advised that they are currently dealing with a very high volume of partner visa applications- currently a total 88,000 onshore applications in the pipeline. 


New pathway for New Zealand Special Category visa (SCV) holders in Australia

Keeping the special bilateral relationship between Australia and New Zealand in mind the Australian Government has announced to provide a streamlined pathway to Australian permanent residence, for many New Zealand citizens who have been living in Australia for at least five years and shown a commitment and contribution to Australia.

The new visa pathway will be available from 1 July 2017 for New Zealand Special Category Visa (SCV) holders who were resident in Australia on or before 19 February 2016 and, at the time of application, have resided in Australia for at least five years.
